Training Before And After The Calls
Our fire department is comprised of all volunteers who generously donate their time to serve our community. Our coverage area is Duncansville Borough, Newry Borough, and sections of Blair Township and Juniata Township. We also assist local companies from surrounding counties. We have both female and male firefighters who dedicate their time to serving our community. We have junior firefighters as young as 14. We also have dedicated general members who don’t respond to calls, but support the company by assisting with fundraisers, providing services such as website maintenance, event planning, photography, and provide administrative support such as secretarial and accounting work.
We do ask that our members assist with fundraising, stations projects, events, meetings, and a variety of other activities as their schedules allow.

REQUIREMENTS: Volunteer Category: Firefighter
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the Application.
- Applications will be reviewed at two meetings and the attendees will vote on the potential member. Background check will be completed with application.
- PA child clearance
- Can respond to all types of calls. To be interior firefighter, must complete Firefighter Essentials and controlled structure burn (training is company provided if needed).
- Expected to assist with fundraising activities and station projects as schedules allow.
Volunteer Category: General Member
- Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of the Application.
- Not required to respond to calls.
- Expected to assist with fundraising activities, event planning, administrative support, and attend meetings as schedules allow.
Volunteer Category: Junior Firefighter
- Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of the Application.
- Must have parental/legal guardian consent.
- Must have passing grades. This is monitored every marking period by an adult member in charge of Junior Firefighters.
- Can respond to all calls if over the age of 16, but certain activities are limited such as operating power equipment and interior firefighting.
- Expected to assist with fundraising activities, station projects, and attend meetings as schedules allow.
